Valentine's Day Celebrators

Edited by Parita Nagaria

St. Valentine's day is an annual festival celebrating romance, friendship and admiration. Every year, people, all around the world, celebrate the day by sending affectionate messages to their partners, family and friends. There are many different folk stories about the origins of Valentine's day. But more interestingly, there are many different types of people on Valentine’s day. Let’s meet the three major categories of people:

There are three types of people on valentines day:

  • The Extravagant Celebrators

These are the people that love such days and celebrate them very lavishly, if I may say so. They are usually waiting for this day to arrive since like two months and have everything planned well in advance. These people love to do something special for their partner on this day to show them the utmost love and care. Such people could do something special on an everyday basis, but on Valentine’s, it’s a no-brainer. They will make their biggest effort and do everything to make sure this day is special. And chances are that they probably celebrate all the 7 days beginning from Rose Day (7th February) till Valentine’s Day (14th February) by gifting their partners, or making a personalized gift for them and making sure that their partner feels loved.

  • The Minimalist Celebrators

These types of people like to celebrate Valentine's day, but with simpler plans. These plans could involve a dinner at a nice quiet restaurant, a lovely candle-light dinner at home or just a movie night with their partner at home. Basically, anything that gives these lovebirds some extra alone time together as this means more to them than anything else.

  • The Non Celebrators

Last but not least, we have the people who do not like to celebrate this day at all. This may be because they believe that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated everyday and not just one particular day. They believe that the extra love and special affection seen around Valentine's Day should be given to their loved ones everyday. On the other hand, these people could be the non-romantic people who express their love in different ways. They don’t necessarily plan out romantic evenings and get chocolates and flowers, but they make sure their everyday actions can express their love and care to their partners.

Therefore, my question to you today is, which category do you fall in? And, is there really a need to spend so much on Valentine's day alone to make someone feel special? Why not do that everyday and save your money on valentines day when everything is10 times more expensive? Or, is the extra effort on that one day worth it? Is that one day worth it if it means forgetting all the stress of daily life and just focusing on the love you have for your partner? Which one is more your type?
